God sent Jesus to the world because He loves you. The Bible says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16 NIV).
Jesus has wonderful plans for you. He Himself said, "My purpose is to give you a rich and satisfying life." (John 10:10 NLT).
Next »Unfortunately, we all sin; we all do evil things. The Bible says, "everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard" (Romans 3:23 NLT).
The problem is that this sin separates us from God. God says, "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23 NLT). Because of our sins, we cannot experience His rich and satisfying life; we cannot come near to Him. The only thing that awaits us is death on Earth, and then eternal death in Hell.
Next »Our sin has created a great chasm between us and God. A chasm that needs to be bridged if we're ever going to experience the rich and satisfying life He promised - both on Earth and in Heaven.
Next »Some people try to build their own bridge to God by being good enough. The problem is, though, the Bible says, "no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are" (Romans 3:20 NLT).
Furthermore, "For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it" (James 2:10 NLT).
Next »God's standard is that we be perfect. To make it to heaven, we would have to "be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect" (Matthew 5:48 NIV). And we're not perfect. So we, on our own, have no chance to be with God or see Heaven.
But the Bible says, "God devises ways to bring us back when we have been separated from him" (2 Samuel 14:14 NLT). And God has provided a way that we can bridge the separation between us.
» Really? How?Jesus said that He was God Himself - He said, "Anyone who has seen me has seen God the Father" (John 14:9 NIV). And He said that He came to Earth with a plan. See, God is perfectly just, so our sins simply had to be punished. But instead of punishing us, God Himself - Jesus - took the punishment for our sins. Jesus lived a perfect life and was "tempted in every way, just as we are - yet was without sin" (Hebrews 4:15 NIV). So he didn't deserve death. But he willingly chose to take our sins upon Him, and to die for them, and to take the punishment away from us.
Next »Jesus is the only way to bridge the gap between us and God. He is the only one who can forgive our sins and bring us to God. Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6 NIV).
But It's Your Choice »You are not automatically saved by default. You must realize that you need to be saved from your sins and personally choose to accept Jesus' offer to bridge the gap between you and God. The Bible says that "if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 NIV), that "people are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood" (Romans 3:25 NLT), and that "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9 NLT).
Next »All it takes is faith. The Bible says, "God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it" (Ephesians 2:8-9 NLT). You don't have to worry about being good enough. It's a free gift, just for believing.
Jesus is inviting you to accept Him. He says, "Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in" (Revelation 3:20 NLT).
How to Accept Christ »Dear Lord Jesus, I realize that I am a sinner, and that because of my sin, I deserve nothing more than Hell. I know that You are the only One Who can forgive me. I'm sorry for my sins, and I ask You to forgive me of them. I thank You for dying on the cross to take the penalty for my sins. I believe that You are Lord God and that You raised from the dead. I open the door of my life and I receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life with You in Heaven. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be. Amen.
